The screening tools are available below

There are four screening tools. One concentrates on language, the remainder target numeracy and literacy. Each tool is simple to use, complete with guidelines to help you interpret results.
Please note: The tools are only suitable for download using broadband connections, some files are 20MB.

The screening tools:

'Just the Job' screening tool
'Just the Job' developed by Great Yarmouth College combines both numeracy and literacy focussing the questions in a painting and decorating context. This is an interactive PC based screener and should take up to 30 minutes to complete. The tool is also provided in a paper-based format and if demand is sufficient will be made available for other trades.

Application Form screening tool
Cambridge Training and Development (CTAD) have designed a modified application form for employers who want to assess the numeracy and literacy ability of new staff during the recruitment phase. This is a paper based screening tool and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Numeracy and Literacy screener
This includes 24 questions on each skill designed with construction staff in mind by Cambridge Training and Development (CTAD). There is a paper based version which should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. This version is available to download as a zip file below at 12.6Mb - it will unzip to 74Mb. Choose the 'Save' option when the dialog box appears and save to your local drive to unzip. Follow the on screen prompts.

Language screening tool
This is a language screener designed for non English speakers. It is a paper based questionnaire supported by an audio tape and is aimed at screening employees with limited English language. It has an emphasis on site safety and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
